This morning room 17 and room 10 when to the Oratia Stream to plant toi toi and cabbage trees too.
The first thing we did was walk to the Oratia Stream. Next the girls showed us how to make a hole in the in the ground. They showed us where to dig and where the plants go, that is where you dig a hole. It was very slimy and slippery.
It was fun digging with my buddy . It was a very long journey to Oratia Stream too. It was an awesome experience planting at the Oratia Stream.
Planting by the Oratia Stream
By Cianan
This morning room 17 and room ten went planting down Rangview Road by the Oratia Stream.
First Brooke showed us how to plant the trees. After that we dug a square hole then we tested to see if the hole was large enough. We squeezed the plastic bags that were around the roots so that the plant could come out. Then we put the mud back around the plant’s roots. Then we moved on to another plant. My buddy and I planted two plants before we went back to school. The trees were cabbage trees, tea tree, a spiky one, but I forgot what it was called, and another one that I forgot what it was called as well.
It was very noisy because we were planting under a bridge where trains were coming and going. There were five trains that I remember.
It was a long journey back to school and it felt like it took us half an hour. There were lots of spray cans and yucky stuff lying around. YUCK! I was very tired after the planting because it was a very long trip back to school. I felt a bit sad when we went back to school because my buddy and I only planted two plants.
